Position: Construction Laborer
Duration: April 1, 2025 – November 30, 2025

POSITION SUMMARY
The Construction Laborer will assist Operators with installing underground utilities. This is a physically demanding job working outdoors on construction sites. A successful candidate will assist tradespeople generally performing manual labor, under the direction of a foreman, while adhering to safety regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- - Transporting cable reels to job site, handling cable as it is installed into the trench, pulling cable through ducts, and placing access structures on existing cables.
- - Places buried facility using hand tools and/or machinery. Filling in excavated areas and compacting the soil to adequate conditions.
- - Supports skilled operators, by holding materials, removing debris and waste materials form the worksite or other basic tasks as needed.
- - Properly uses tools and power tools, including shovels, rakes, picks. Power tools as in, jack hammers, drills and saws, as required. Ensuring that all tools and equipment are in good working order, maintained, and stored; reports defective tools and equipment for replacement or repair.
- - Follows all safety protocols and wears all personal protective equipment supplied to the employee. Will attend and participate in all regularly scheduled safety meetings and will report hazards.
- - Submits time reports, mileage and gas tickets, material charge-outs and check-ins, and other clerical forms or other required procedures.
- - Will participate in the DOT mandated Drug and Alcohol Program, submitting to random drug and/or alcohol testing, as well as “For Cause” drug and/or alcohol testing.
- Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job is an entry-level position and has no supervisory responsibilities.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to perform this job successfully.
- - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions. Ability to understand and follow directions from Supervisor and Operators, ensuring the work is done properly
- - Have an understanding of construction methods, materials and terminology. Be able to interpret basic construction blueprints and specifications.
- - Be able to work effectively with coworkers and follow instructions from supervisors.
- - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Driver’s License is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to move up to 100 pounds and will frequently lift or move over 50 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work in all weather conditions, including but not limited to; heat, cold, rain, wind, and humidity. The employee must be willing to work overtime as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
- - Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

• Overnight travel may be required with paid lodging.
