Our Law Firm is the premiere criminal defense law firm in Arkansas. We are experienced with overseas employees.  We have four full-time international employees who have all been with us over a year.  We also have full remote capabilities for all our U.S. employees.  Most of our employees choose to work from home, so it really looks the same to us whether you are in the U.S. or Jamaica. 

No legal experience is necessary for this role. We have training systems in place to get new hires up to speed quickly. None of our international team had prior legal experience, and they are all thriving in their current roles. Our main requirement is that your internet access be reliable and fast enough to view videos from our Google Drive.

The process of a criminal case is fairly simple.  The client hires us after they have been arrested for a crime.  We get the evidence from the prosecution, which they are required to provide to us.  We review the evidence to see how strong or weak our client’s defense will be.  Our approach is we get every case ready for trial, but the vast majority of cases will end in a negotiated deal.   

Here are the tasks we want the legal assistant to perform:  
- Review and Summarize Evidence
The evidence file in most cases will have video and documents to review.  The video is usually a police body camera video.  The initial review is to determine what is there, what witnesses are available to the prosecution, and who is saying what.  The size of the discovery file can vary widely depending on the case.  After your initial review, it will be common for us to ask you to go back through it looking for specific things.  As we come up with legal arguments to raise, we will give you direction of which specific things to look for to see if a particular argument will work.  

  • - Update the Client Memo

We use the client memo to track the progress of our work.  The client memo has two purposes.  First, it keeps everything organized for the whole team.  Other team members can see what you have done without having to reach out to you.  Our meetings are more effective when we can all look at the memo.  Second, this is also how we keep clients updated without having to have meetings.  The administrative assistants will send the memo to the client every Friday as their weekly update. As you perform work on a case, we want you to update the client memo.  

We offer a starting pay for this role of $7 USD / hour. We also offer paid American holidays.
